This critical update to your operating system significantly improves your computer's built-in defences against attacks and vulnerabilities known to exist in the Windows XP operating system. Upgrading your Windows XP installation to incorporate Service Pack 2 is a critical update, and instrumental in ensuring the well being and good health of your computer.

It has been brought to our attention that a large proportion of the public are finding implementing this key upgrade a somewhat daunting task. To start with, the download of Service Pack 2 from the internet may vary from anywhere between 70 megabytes and 266 megabytes which could take up to an incredible 18 hours using a conventional dial up internet connection! Microsoft also recommend a number of pre-installation tasks to ensure the installation of Service Pack 2 is as seamless as possible including updating all device drivers to the latest versions and making an external backup of all essential data held on your computer.
